Tangrams

Our main math idea this week has been shape attributes and recognizing that smaller shapes can fit in to make bigger shapes. We read Grandfather Tang's Story and learned about Tangram puzzles. Students made animals out of their Tangram shapes just like from the story and colored and cut them out . Read more about Tangrams here.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tangram

Shapes

This week we are beginning our learning about shapes and their attributes. Ask your student what a special type of rectangle is or how many sides and corner a rectangle, triangle, circle, or square has. In the picture below We are enjoying making Popsicle stick hexagons.

Responsibility

I'm Our class has been actively working towards being responsible and keeping our class and school move by washing our lunch tables , tables in our room, and trash that we make and if we come across any.
Washing lunch tables is a hit!

Interactive writing

We are working on writing sentences using our sight words . Our focus is to count the words and really recognize the spaces , sight words, letter sounds and punctuation. Students have watched me do it for two weeks and yesterday students got to try it themselves ! Nice work!

Writing

Amazing writing ! All writing that students do is phonetic . I encourage using the sounds they rather than actual spelling . See if you can figure out what each picture says!!

Using our senses

We are learning about or senses and being outside is the perfect time to try them out . We followed butterflies (and even wasps) at our recesses today. Unfortunately the wasp we were following had a worm ... Mother Nature can be shocking and sad sometimes!

Sorts

Today we got to sort our very own sorts, cut them out and put them in our "high school" notebooks .
